And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.              Mark 1:15

************

Repent, definition from the dictionary.

1: to turn from sin and dedicate yourself to amendment of one's life

2 a: to feel regret or contrition

   b: to change one's mind

*Change our mind, item 2b. Focus on that. We must reject human ways of thinking and accept Gods way. Read the Bible. All of it.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.  Acts 2:38

From that time Jesus began to preach, and say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.   Matt 4:17

And they went out, and preached that men should repent.  Mark 6:12

I tell you, No: but, except you repent, ye shall also perish.  Luke 13:3

...but now commands all men everywhere to repent.  Acts 17:30

Have you admitted to God you are a sinner? Seek that place of repentance with all your heart.

Or do you think, "I'm not_that_bad., I treat people pretty good and love God, I'll go to heaven"

The truth of the Word needs to be known, and_do_you love God? Is everything you do, say and think always motivated by your love for God? Or do you take your eyes off Christ and follow your own way at times? Admit you are a sinner and have no ability to pay the price of sin in your life. Only Christ's sacrifice on the cross pays the price of our sin.

All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.  Isa 53:6

As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.  Romans 3:10-12

If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1John 1:9

For godly sorrow works repentance towards salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world works unto death.  2Cor 7:10

At the end, will your answer be "I wasn't that bad and God forgives." (He does, hallelujah!!!)

But did you, or have you ever, asked forgiveness for your sins??? Ask, and you shall receive.

(helpful hint - Do this every day! You sin every day! Confess your sin and walk in Truth.)

REPENT, and be saved from the wrath to come. The penalty for unrepented sin is death and separation from God. Only confession and true faith in Christ pays that penalty for you. He is our payment for sin. Praise God!

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  Eph 2:8-9

Our good works, humility and kindness are done as obedience, reverence and worship to God. No amount of 'good deeds' will save any soul from sins cost. We are saved by grace through faith in Christ. Please remember that water baptism and repentance are part of faith in Christ, they are not works as mentioned above. The works reffered to in the verse above are things done in self-righteousness or religious piety.

Humble yourself! Kneel before God and ask forgiveness for your sins! Then do this everyday.
